The College Hill Farmers Market will be located on College Street between 22nd and 23rd streets and open from 4-6 p.m. Local produce including sweet corn and cultivated mushrooms, jam, bread, meat, lamb and eggs will be available. Wear a mask and show your UNI ID to the market manager to receive a $1 CHFM Buck to spend at the market. Offer limited to the first 125 customers.
The 2nd Annual UNI Mental Health Conference will be a live webinar held on Tuesday, September 15 from 10:30 am to 4:15 pm. The sessions will cover trauma informed yoga to the future of suicide prevention, followed by a keynote from Jamie Tworkowski. Register at the Counseling Center website.
Schindler Education Center will be closed on weekends for the fall semester. This includes general public and student access to the HNI Corporation Instructional Resources and Technology Lab off the second floor lobby. Organizations which have used SEC for weekend meetings can request space in other available facilities open for the weekend from the Registrar's Office. Continuing closure will be re-assessed later for spring semester.
Registration is now open for UNI Fall 2020 Career Fair held virtually. The fair will be held entirely on the Handshake Job Board Platform. Students can schedule 1:1 and group meetings with over 100 employers. It’s important that you register for employer sessions in advance. You can only attend sessions you registered for. Free Week classes start Wednesday, August 26 and go through Friday, September 4 at the Wellness Recreation Center. A wide variety of classes for all ages and abilities is offered, allowing participants to try it all and find out what they like. Class capacity is limited, so come early if you want to try out a class.
The Office of Community Engagement, in partnership with the Cedar Valley Volunteer Center, is happy to announce that on Wednesday, September 2, a Virtual Volunteer Fair will take place via Get Connected. Sign up and get involved in your local Cedar Valley community through volunteerism.
The "Are you available" scam is still alive and kicking. If you receive such a message, even though the display name is a well-known campus name, check the actual email address of the sender. It's likely to be a gmail.com account incorporating the impersonated UNI person into the username portion of the address. Don't be fooled. Mark the message as spam and move on to the next message in your inbox.
Over the summer, Information Technology expanded the outdoor wireless coverage on campus. The east side of the Schindler Education Center and the courtyard between Strayer-Wood Theatre, Kamerick Art and the Communications Arts Complex are now well covered.
