Advanced Studies Certificate in Superintendency offered primarily at a distance beginning January 2019

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The University of Northern Iowa is accepting applications for the Advanced Studies Certificate in Superintendency program scheduled to begin January 2019. The two-year program is designed for individuals seeking endorsement in the state of Iowa as a superintendent or AEA administrator.

Courses included in this program are performance-based, minimize student class time and maximize on-site skill development while working with a lead mentor and mentors with special expertise. The program offers hands-on experience through an internship where work products and skills are developed.

“The program focuses on the knowledge and skills needed to succeed as a superintendent in Iowa schools,” says program coordinator Denise Schares. “Courses are taught by experienced administrators, and an extensive internship is included, providing opportunities for students to engage in authentic leadership experiences.”

Courses are taken using a cohort model in which a group of students moves together through the six-semester course sequence. Courses are offered primarily online via interactive video conferencing as well as eLearning, a dynamic platform that will enhance your learning experience and sense of community with fellow classmates. Summer sessions include a short, engaging on-campus experience.
