CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Kaoru Ishibashi, a singer, multi-instrumentalist and producer, will perform his self-recorded and self-produced project, "Kishi Bashi with Strings," at the University of Northern Iowa Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, April 7.
Ishibashi's live show is a performance composed of live violin, vocal looping, drums, banjo, guitar, a string quartet and beat boxing. The main genre of "Kishi Bashi" is indie pop and rock. Ishibashi has become a familiar face on stages around the world as a touring violinist for the rock band "Of Montreal" and for singer-songwriter Regina Spektor.
Students from UNI will also share the stage with "Kishi Bashi with Strings." The student orchestra was recruited to accompany Ishibashi on select songs throughout the performance.
Ticket prices for "Kishi Bashi with Strings" begin at $29 and can be purchased at any UNItix location, at www.gbpac.com or 319-273-4849. UNI students must bring their school ID to the Gallagher Bluedorn box office to receive their free ticket.
