UNI Art Department, Hearst Center seek alums for Visiting Artist Program

As part of a new collaboration between the University of Northern Iowa Art Department and the Hearst Center for the Arts, one UNI art alumnus will be chosen to join the new Visiting Artist Program at the Hearst.

The successful applicant will also receive a studio space at “The Red House Studios,” located on the Hearst property. Sponsored by the UNI Department of Art, the space will be awarded for free to the successful applicant for one year to further their artistic practice while living and working in the Cedar Valley.

The program is available to UNI Fine Arts alumni who graduated in 2017 or after, based on an application process.

The successful applicant will join three other visual artists from the area in using “The Red House Studios” and taking part in the Hearst’s Visiting Artist Program. The artists will visit select classrooms in the Cedar Falls School District to discuss the fine arts as viable areas of study and possible future career paths. The visits will include hands-on arts learning with each artist.

Alumni of the UNI Department of Art are encouraged to apply for the UNI Alumni Studio at The Red House Studios. For more information on requirements or to submit an application, please visit www.thehearst.org.

Applications are due on March 11, 2020. To apply, click here.
