UNI to host ninth annual Graduate Student Symposium

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The University of Northern Iowa Graduate College will host its ninth annual Graduate Research Symposium on Wednesday, April 6.

There are three categories of presentations and performances throughout the event, beginning with 28 poster presentations scheduled to take place from noon to 1:45 p.m., in the Maucker Union Ballroom. Following the poster presentations, there are 27 scheduled oral presentations from 2 to 4:30 p.m., in the lower level meeting rooms of Maucker Union.

Nine musical and creative writing performances will take place from 6 to 9 p.m., in Davis Hall at the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center (GBPAC).

"Graduate faculty serve as judges for the event," said Kavita Dhanwada, Associate Provost for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Graduate College. "The symposium allows our graduate students the opportunity to showcase their research and creative works to the university community and the public. I'm very excited about the number of our students taking advantage of the symposium. Our student participation is the most in the event's nine year history."

First place awards of up to $300 will be presented to students in each category. The awards will be presented at the annual graduate faculty meeting at 3 p.m., Thursday, April 28, in the Rod Library scholar space.

All events are free and open to the public. For more information, visit www.grad.uni.edu/graduate-student-symposium.
