CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The University of Northern Iowa will host the sixth annual UNI Dance Marathon from noon to midnight, Saturday, March 4, in the Maucker Union on the UNI campus.
Dance Marathon is a nationwide movement involving college and high school students in more than 300 programs. Money raised by the schools during the events goes toward their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. UNI Dance Marathon is the top fundraising program for colleges with under 12,000 undergraduate students and raised over $370,000 last year.
Participants will stay on their feet for 12 hours to “stand for those who can’t.” Along with dancing, there will be breakout rooms throughout Maucker Union where various activities will take place. Dancers will also have the chance to meet the Dance Marathon kids who have been treated at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital and their families.
This year, UNI Dance Marathon hopes to raise $400,000. UNI has exceeded their fundraising goal for the past five years. Money raised at the UNI Dance Marathon goes to the Children’s Miracle Network and the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.
