UNI to induct students into Teacher Education program on March 22

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The University of Northern Iowa College of Education will host its bi-annual Teacher Education Induction Convocation at 4 p.m., Wednesday, March 22, in the Great Hall of the Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center on the UNI campus.

Two hundred and fifty students have satisfied requirements for admission into the UNI Teacher Education Program and are invited to participate in the formal ceremony as an official induction into the field of study. Gaetane Jean-Marie, dean of the College of Education and professor, will deliver the convocation address. Jim Wohlpart, provost and executive vice president of Academic Affairs and professor of English, will perform the official duties. 

This ceremony marks the 53rd group of candidates inducted into the Teacher Education Program since the formal ceremonies began in 1991. Parents and friends of the candidates and UNI faculty and administrators are invited to attend. A reception will follow the ceremony in the lobby of the Gallagher Bluedorn.
