U.S. News & World Report ranks UNI No. 2 among top Midwest public universities

UNI NEWS SERVICE – The University of Northern Iowa ranked No. 2 in the "Best Regional Universities (Midwest)" category for public universities, according to U.S. News & World Report's "Best Colleges 2019" guidebook. UNI was also ranked No. 25 overall on a combined list of all public and private Midwest regional universities.

"U.S. News & World Report has consistently recognized UNI for our commitment to student success," remarked Paula Knudson, vice president for student affairs. "This year's No. 2 ranking continues to show that we not only have great students, but tremendous faculty and staff who truly care about students and their success."

In fact, since 2008, UNI has never been ranked lower than No. 3 in the category.

According to the methodology used by U.S. News & World Report, rankings are based on several key measures of quality. Peer assessment, graduation and retention rates, student/faculty ratios and average alumni giving are all used to rank colleges.
