A recent donation from the Pauline R. Barrett Charitable Foundation to help fund a planned $14.9 million renovation and expansion to modernize the space of the iconic performing arts center.
The Pauline R. Barrett Charitable Foundation has invested $2 million in the renovation and expansion of the Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center.
“Pauline was known throughout the Cedar Valley for her philanthropy and volunteerism,” said UNI President Mark A. Nook. “During her lifetime, the university was fortunate to have her support for student scholarships as well as various capital projects across campus. UNI and the Cedar Valley are stronger because of Pauline’s transformational support of her community.”
The University of Northern Iowa has announced a $250,000 gift from the Master Builders of Iowa (MBI) for the Industrial Technology Center renovation and modernization project.
UNI celebrated a generous donation by Doug and Ann Goschke that will lead to the construction of the The Doug and Ann Goschke Outdoor Practice Facility - In Memory of Junean Goschke on Tuesday. The modernized field will include an oversized turf field, lights and fencing and is part of more than $4 million in investments in UNI football that are currently in progress and are scheduled to be complete in the fall of 2021.
MidAmerican Energy has invested $250,000 in UNI@DMACC, a partnership between the University of Northern Iowa and Des Moines Area Community College, to advance this first collaboration of this size and scale between an Iowa Regent university and community college. UNI@DMACC is a 2+2 program specifically designed for students to complete their first two years at DMACC, with the remaining two years of coursework to be completed online through UNI.

UNI NEWS SERVICES – The University of Northern Iowa Foundation recorded its highest fundraising total in history, raising over $38.9 million last year.
“In a year unlike any other, UNI alumni and friends came together to support the University of Northern Iowa in record-breaking fashion,” said Jim Jermier, vice president for University Advancement and president of the UNI Foundation. “We are extremely grateful for the support and passion our alumni and friends have for the University of Northern Iowa and our students.”
The renovation of the Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center has received a $200,000 gift from Cecelia and Jim Mudd, Sr. The gift from the Mudds will support the estimated $14.5 million renovation of the 20-year old facility.
“I never went there without having a wonderful time and enjoying myself immensely, along with Ceceilia. We went there often, and we enjoyed every single minute,” said Jim Mudd, Sr., chairman of Mudd Advertising and chief spiritual advisor for the company.
