The U.S. Olympic Trials are underway, and several current and former UNI Panthers are hoping to earn their spot to compete for gold in Paris later this summer. 

Catch live coverage of the events on NBC, Peacock and USA Network.  Here’s a list of who we’ll be cheering on!

• Brandon Carnes, a 2015 UNI graduate and 2023 World Champion as a sprinter, is competing in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes at the U.S. Olympic Trials underway in Eugene, Oregon. Carnes did not advance out of the first round of the 100-meter dash on Saturday, June 22. The first round of the 200-meter dash will take place on the evening of Thursday, June 27.
• Olivia Chambers is competing at the U.S. Paralympic Swim Trials in Minneapolis. The current Panther will swim in the 100-meter breaststroke on June 27, the 400 and 100-meter freestyle events on June 28 and the 100-meter butterfly, 200-meter individual medley and 50-meter freestyle on June 29. The Paralympic Swim Trials will be broadcast on Peacock, with the Saturday finals on CNBC.
• Jessica Heims, a 2021 UNI graduate, will compete in the U.S. Paralympic Team Trials in the discus event. At the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, she finished seventh in the 400-meter dash and eighth in the discus throw in her respective classification, and will look to qualify for her third straight Paralympics next month in Florida.
• Cali Prochaska, a current UNI student-athlete, is also swimming at the U.S. Paralympic Trials. She will compete in the 100-meter breaststroke on June 27, the 400-meter freestyle on June 28 and the 100-meter butterfly on June 29. The Paralympic Swim Trials will be broadcast on Peacock, with the Saturday finals on CNBC.
• Alex Teubel, another 2015 Panther graduate, UNI's current head cross country coach and assistant track coach will race in the women's 1,500 meters next week. The first round of competition takes place on the evening of Thursday, June 27.
• Mari Shavers, who graduated from UNI just last spring, made her Olympic Trials debut in the women's hammer throw on Friday, June 21. She’s one of the top throwers in UNI program history.

Outside of the Olympic Trials, Klint Carlson, a 2018 UNI graduate, is serving on the staff of USA Basketball under head coach Steve Kerr. Carlson is player development coach and video coordinator on Kerr’s staff with the Golden State Warriors. USA Basketball tips off on Saturday, July 27.
