Recently, I have been reading about race relations in the USA. Caste by Isabel Wilkerson and The Sum of Us by Heather McGhee approach the topic from different angles, but both point out the fact that African Americans have suffered, in large part, as a result of our economic system. History, indeed, provides an egregious example of how US society has treated certain groups of people; but it is still seen in the putative mistreatment of workers in today’s economy, through the concepts of Striketober and The Great Resignation.
Our very own 4th-floor Facilities Management Custodian is putting his hobbies on display here at Rod Library! Nathan Moore is not only a hard-working employee but a talented artist. Inspiration for this first installment of his collection came from Warhammer Age of Sigmar and Blades of Khorne. This tabletop game has grown into a large fandom. Moore was inspired to create these miniatures after learning various painting techniques with metallic colors. He spent over 106 hours painting the centerpiece, and he even mined for the gems at the base of the display himself.
