Micaiah Krutsinger
Micaiah Krutsinger is a Choral Music Education major with a minor in Social and Emotional Learning from Forest City, Iowa. He has performed with UNI Concert Chorale, UNI Singers, UNI Varsity Glee Club, as well as the community chorus Metropolitan Chorale. His favorite course at UNI so far is Elementary Methods with Dr. Michelle Swanson.
During his time at UNI, Micaiah has been actively involved in the Northern Iowa Student Government, where he served as Senator for the College of Humanities, Arts, and Sciences, Student Body Vice President, and will assume his role as newly elected Student Body President in 2023-24. He has also been active in the American Choral Directors Association, the Spectrum Project and serves as choral ensembles and conducting representative on the School of Music Student Advisory Board.
“I think that my favorite part about studying at UNI has been how supportive the faculty and staff are here at UNI,” Micaiah said, “They really do create a relationship with students that helps us succeed and pursue our goals. Without their support and encouragement, I do not see myself being where I am today.”
Micaiah was selected to be featured as one of a small group of UNI students to be a part of filming the UNI episode of Amazon’s series “The College Tour.”
“The College Tour was an amazing experience of mine that I will not forget,” Micaiah said. “Getting to highlight areas that I like here at UNI with other Panthers that love UNI was really exciting. I was able to see other people’s perspectives of our campus and feel that Panther energy through a television screen.”
After graduating from UNI, Micaiah hopes to teach music in the Des Moines area and possibly go to graduate school for Educational Policy and/or Educational Leadership.
Congratulations on your outstanding achievements at UNI and best of luck in your future, Micaiah!
