TheatreUNI Presents "Suzette Who Set to Sea" April 20 and 21 in the Bertha Martin Theatre. Tickets on sale at unitix.uni.edu

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – For its fourth production of the 2023-2024 season, TheatreUNI will present “Suzette Who Set to Sea” by Finegan Kruckemeyer.

Public performances will be held April 20 at 10:30 a.m. and April 21 at 2 p.m. in the Bertha Martin Theatre on the University of Northern Iowa campus. The show will also tour local elementary schools in the Cedar Valley throughout the month. 

The show follows young Suzette, who longs for the sea and believes she is meant for something greater than a life on land. When a mysterious event occurs, Suzette is forced to do that most difficult thing – prove herself worthy of her destiny.

The performance is best enjoyed by K-5 audiences and their families.

Assistant Professor of Instruction Kendra Kahl will direct the play, with scenic and puppetry design by Associate Professor Mark Parrott; costume coordination by Associate Professor Amy Rohrberg and Megan Hedtke, design & production student; original music by Sam Trumpold, theatre performance and theatre for youth & communities student; and stage management by Briley Larson, design & production student.

Tickets start at $5 and are available at unitix.uni.edu. Tickets can also be purchased at the UNItix counter in the Strayer Wood Theatre. Admission is free for all UNI students.
