UNI School of Music to host 43rd Annual Scholarship Benefit Concert
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – "Welcome Home" will be the theme of the 43rd Annual Scholarship Benefit Concert, hosted by the UNI School of Music. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27 in the Catherine Cassidy Gallagher Great Hall at the Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center (GBPAC) on the University of Northern Iowa campus.
The evening will be filled with exceptional performances by student ensembles, faculty musicians and returning alumni, including performances by the UNI Wind Ensemble, UNI Jazz Band One with guests City High School Jazz Ensemble, Northern Iowa Symphony Orchestra, and UNI Concert Chorale, with featured faculty artists Randy Grabowski, Maddy Tarantelli, Anthony Williams, Brett Copeland and Suzanne Hendrix-Case. This year’s concert is aimed at highlighting the incredibly talented School of Music alumni in collaboration with our current students and faculty. Works will include Katahj Copley’s “Fanfare for Oya,” selections from Mozart’s “Requiem” and more.
Following the concert, audience members are invited to enjoy chocolates, hors d’oeuvres and beverages in the Gallagher Bluedorn lobby, with music provided by the Hands of Time, featuring faculty artists Christopher Merz, Mike Conrad, Bob Dunn, Jon Schwabe with guest Josh Hakanson.
The Scholarship Benefit Concerts have been raising scholarship funds for exceptionally talented music students and students in need for many years. All seats for the benefit concert are reserved.
