UNI School of Music to present Mozart’s Requiem

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The University of Northern Iowa School of Music ensembles will perform Mozart’s Requiem in D Minor, K. 626, this spring. The first of two performances will be offered on Saturday, April 26 at 7 p.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church in Muscatine, and the second and final performance will be held on Sunday, April 27 at 4 p.m. in the Catherine Cassidy Gallagher Great Hall of the Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center on the UNI campus.
Mozart's Requiem has long been shrouded in mystery and remains one of the most celebrated works in all of western music. The performance will include the Northern Iowa Symphony Orchestra (prepared by Erik Rohde), the UNI Concert Chorale and vocal soloists from UNI Opera. "The Requiem is a visceral experience," says conductor John Wiles. "Audiences have been moved by the story and the music for centuries. We are excited to bring it back to the Cedar Valley."
The event in Muscatine is free and open to the public, while the home concert in Cedar Falls is ticketed. Tickets for the performance may be purchased in person at the Gallagher Bluedorn box office, by calling 319-273-4TIX or by visiting unitix.uni.edu.
