Donor support helps launch Finance and Real Estate Analytics Lab

Thanks to the generosity of 32 donors, the University of Northern Iowa is transforming business education through the new Finance and Real Estate Analytics Lab.
This initiative is creating a modern, professional-grade learning environment in the Curris Business Building. The lab will feature 12 high-performance computer workstations with dual monitors, a ticker tape display and collaborative seating, mirroring the look and feel of a real-world finance department.
Students will gain hands-on experience using industry-standard software platforms such as Eikon for real-time stock and trading analysis, CoStar for real estate market research and Argus for modeling and analyzing real estate transactions. These tools will empower students to build confidence, sharpen analytical thinking and develop the technical skills needed to thrive in internships and careers.
The lab will serve as a hub for student-led investment clubs, research projects, and industry engagement, offering students opportunities to apply knowledge outside of the classroom and become leaders within their communities and industries. Donor support is directly shaping these future leaders, helping them graduate ready in a data-driven world.
“This lab will give our students access to the same tools used by professionals in the field,” said Dr. Brett Olsen, Department Head of Finance. “It’s a game changer for how we prepare students for internships and careers.”
This project is part of UNI’s Our Tomorrow campaign, a historic effort to expand access, enhance academic excellence and create unparalleled opportunities for students. To support this initiative or make a future gift, visit foundation.uni.edu/give.
