A historic night for UNI Women’s Athletics
Wednesday evening was one for the books as UNI women’s basketball and volleyball captured remarkable achievements.
In front of a roaring McLeod Center crowd, UNI women’s basketball made history by securing the program’s first-ever victory over a top-10 opponent with an 87-75 win against No. 8 Iowa State. Led by Maya McDermott’s career-high 37 points, the Panthers dominated the second half. Read more about the upset here.

On the road in Des Moines, UNI volleyball continued its conference dominance, sweeping Drake 3-0 to finish the Missouri Valley Conference season undefeated for the second straight year. The victory secured the Panthers’ 22nd regular-season championship and the top seed in the MVC Tournament, highlighting another stellar campaign under head coach Bobbi Petersen.
