Iowa Board of Regents approves recommendations for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

The University of Northern Iowa is forming an advisory group to evaluate Diversity, Equity and Inclusion recommendations considered and approved by the Iowa Board of Regents.

The 10 recommendations, which you can read here, were brought to the full board for consideration after a smaller three-person study group reviewed initiatives at the state of Iowa’s three public universities. The subject was the final item of the Iowa Board of Regents agenda during its November meeting on the University of Northern Iowa campus.

During a nearly two-hour discussion, the Iowa Board of Regents passed six recommendations as a group and revisited the remaining four to discuss each individually. The Board passed each recommendation with only one minor amendment.

The University of Northern Iowa’s advisory group will appraise how the measures will impact the UNI community and develop the response the Board has requested. The plan will be reviewed in April 2024.
