Know before you go: Plan your trip to Cedar Falls and the University of Northern Iowa

We're looking forward to welcoming new and returning Panthers! The summer season also means road work continues across the Cedar Valley, and may impact how you get to and from Cedar Falls and the University of Northern Iowa.

Here are a few resources to plan your trip:

511ia.org

The official website from the Iowa Department of Transportation offers a number of resources to plan your travel, including current construction projects, unplanned traffic events, traffic speeds and live roadside cameras.  This website is also useful in the winter season showing local and regional road conditions impacted by snow and ice.

Watch for current road work on Highway 20 that is impacting the exit to Highway 58 north into Cedar Falls. On the north side of Cedar Falls, construction is impacting US Highway 218 and Iowa Highway 27 - there are detours in place.

Cedar Falls Main Street Project

Work is underway on Cedar Falls Main Street, which means your visit to downtown from the UNI campus may be a little different than expected. In addition to the website linked in the heading above, the city has produced this map to show closures and detours. The Cedar Falls downtown district continues to be open during the road improvements and is ready to welcome you!

Work near UNI campus

Sections of West 27th Street and Greenhill Road are closed west of the UNI-Dome and McLeod Center.  You may also experience lane closures on Hudson Road. Reconstruction of West 18th Street north of campus is underway with a full road closure in effect. Click the link in the heading above to show current closures and recommended routes.

UNI has also been busy with construction projects this summer. Get a look here.
