Signs of the UNI Sesquicentennial Celebration begin to appear in Cedar Falls
As the University of Northern Iowa prepares to mark 150 years of history, signs of celebration are already popping up across campus and the larger Cedar Valley community.

We just wrapped orientation for incoming students, our first opportunity to say hello to the 150th class at UNI. Students and their families were greeted to campus with an array of digital signs, posters, photobooth props and campus-wide displays commemorating the milestone. We’re excited to welcome this historic class back to campus in August, where the Panther Welcome Kickoff and additional Welcome Week activities will feature special sesquicentennial components.
July has also brought the first visible signs of the UNI Sesquicentennial Celebration across Cedar Falls – literally! Near campus, freshly installed banners line the light poles along Hudson Road, with more appearing soon on Seerley Boulevard and College Hill. Visitors to downtown Main Street will also spot plenty of Panther pride as they visit shops, boutiques and restaurants.
Many more exciting things are planned for the UNI Sesquicentennial Celebration, including the official kickoff during Homecoming 2025! Stay tuned for all the details by following 150.uni.edu.
