UNI hosting community engagement event with Volunteer Center of Cedar Valley
Cedar Falls, IA – The University of Northern Iowa’s Office of Community Engagement in partnership with Volunteer Center of Cedar Valley is hosting Community Engagement Celebration Day on Friday, April 22. The public is invited to attend and browse nearly 40 community engagement projects between 9 to 10:45 a.m.
UNI faculty, staff, students, centers and institutes and community partners will be showcasing class projects, student organization projects, community-based research and individual community engagement work.
From 10:45 to 11:45 a.m., there will be a program and awards ceremony, which will feature Madi Rummel, a UNI Health, Recreation, and Community Services Graduate.
During the awards ceremony the following will be recognized: Student recipients of the Robert and Yvonne Koob Fund for Community Engagement, Veridian Community Engagement Faculty Fellows, and based on judging that day, awards will be given in seven categories including: Service-Learning/Live Client Project Award, Student Organization/Student Group Project Award, Research-Based Project Award, Social Justice Award, Sustainability and Environmental Awareness Award, Individual Student Project Award and Commitment to Service Award.
A People’s Choice Award will also be given.
