UNI ROTC stair climb honors 9/11 first responders

UNI ROTC sponsored 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb on the morning of Sunday, Sept. 10.

Open to the public, participants take five laps up and down the UNI-Dome stairs in honor of the steps taken by firefighters, EMTs, police and other responders in the first World Trade Center. During 9/11, first responders climbed more than 2,000 stairs or 110 flights.

"There were a few people who completed the stair climb while carrying their children, which is impressive," said UNI ROTC cadet Elian Cordova.

This event is also a time for the community to come together, reclaiming the spirit of unity that followed 9/11.
