In August 2021, President Mark A. Nook awarded Presidential Medallions to three UNI staff members: associate provost for academic affairs Patrick Pease, executive director of student health and wellbeing Shelley O’Connell and director of risk management Joseph Rayzor. 

This brand-new award is reserved for UNI staff members who have displayed exceptional service, going above and beyond what may be detailed in their job descriptions. Each of the inaugural recipients was recognized by President Nook for how they have helped UNI safely navigate the COVID-19 pandemic starting in early 2020.

“These individuals consistently went above and beyond to do what was necessary to keep us all safe,” Nook said. “Patrick, Shelley and Joseph, thank you for all you have done for UNI and all you continue to do through your leadership and service to your colleagues and our students and community.”
