UNI Communication & Media Department Announces Redesigned Master’s Degree and Certificate Programs
The University of Northern Iowa Department of Communication and Media announced today its newly redesigned Master of Arts (MA) degree.
Designed with students in mind, the degree offers a streamlined experience with online, face-to-face, and flexible hybrid (hyflex) options. Additionally, the program offers certificates that can be obtained as standalone credentials with the option of counting the courses toward the completion of the MA degree.
The department will now offer a new, and entirely online, certificate program in Organizational Communication and Inclusive Leadership. Additionally, the program continues to build on its excellent reputation in face-to-face and hybrid (hy-flex) options with new certificates offered in Communication Education and Training; Performance, Rhetoric, and Advocacy; Strategic Communication; Visual Communication and Digital Media.
“Our Master’s program has always had an excellent reputation for supportive student-faculty mentorships and rigorous professional development for full-time students, full-time employees, and everything in between,” said John Fritch, dean of the College of Humanities, Arts and Sciences. “We’re excited to build on this tradition with our new curriculum and online/hybrid modes of instruction for UNI, the Cedar Valley, and beyond.”
The program provides students with a master’s level training in communication and media processes and helps them further prepare for specific career options through the new program certificates offered within the degree. Together, these areas ensure that our graduates are prepared to excel in their personal and professional lives through a deep knowledge of, and appreciation for, communication and media processes.
Cohorts begin Fall of 2022 for the MA, and the online and hybrid/hy-flex certificates.
