Northern Iowan student newspaper to celebrate 130th Anniversary
In celebration of its 130th year at the University of Northern Iowa, The Northern Iowan student newspaper editorial team will be hosting a series of events showcasing the publication’s history.
The celebration will kick off Monday, Nov. 7 with the publication of the paper’s “Golden Issue,” which will revisit notable moments of coverage throughout the paper's history. The issue will also note awards earned by the paper and its staff over the years and highlight some of its unique storytelling.
Copies of the “Golden Issue” will be regularly dispersed throughout campus. Readers are invited to join the celebration by posting pictures with their copy of the anniversary issue on their social channels using the hashtag #NI130.
Scheduled throughout the week are gala exhibits in the Northern Iowan office on the lower level of Maucker Union highlighting the paper’s history and its impact on the UNI campus.
The schedule is as follows:
- Monday, Nov. 7, 3:30 to 5 p.m.
- Tuesday, Nov. 8, 4:30 to 6 p.m.
