Biochemistry major Emma Pelligrino found her passion for science when she was in high school. When it came time for her to pick a college, Emma knew a biochemistry degree from UNI would be a perfect fit. It was important to Emma to choose a school where she could do hands-on research and receive personalized support from faculty, both of which UNI could provide.

“One of my biggest support systems in college is the faculty members that I have had the opportunity to meet,” she said. “I just feel like I wouldn’t have the confidence I do right now, or even the passion for science, without the support of all the faculty. I sincerely believe that everyone can be a scientist, that everyone can pursue a career in STEM and be successful.”
