UNI Gallery of Art presents “Sentient Process”
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The University of Northern Iowa Gallery of Art is pleased to announce its upcoming exhibition, “Sentient Process,” featuring works by UNI Department of Art professor emeritus Crit Streed.
The exhibition will be open from Monday, Oct. 16 through Friday, Nov. 30. Streed will present a lecture about her work on Monday, Oct. 16 at 6 p.m. in Kamerick Art Building 111. An opening reception will follow.
Adjunct instructor and foundations coordinator Alex Dooley and UNI Gallery of Art director Laura Gleissner curated “Sentient Process,” which represents a wide range of work in multiple mediums such as ink, encaustic, sculpture and painting spanning Streed’s artwork from the past 46 years.
“Our attraction to specific works spanned decades of Crit’s production which we probed to identify what we saw as the common threads,” Dooley said. “We found in her studio a wealth of creative output that only deep investments of time and thoughtful investigations can yield.”
Streed received her MA and MFA in Painting from the University of Iowa, where she taught drawing and painting in the UNI Department of Art for 32 years, until she retired in 2009.
All events at the UNI Gallery of Art are free and open to the public. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Please note that the Gallery will be closed during the Thanksgiving holiday, which runs from Nov. 18 – Nov. 26. The gallery is located at the northeast corner of Hudson Road and West 27th Street, Cedar Falls, on the main floor of the Kamerick Art Building.
