CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- This week UNI Athletics announced multiple contract extensions for coaching staff.
Ryan Jacobs
Following another record-breaking season on the diamond, UNI head softball coach Ryan Jacobs has received a two-year contract extension through the end of the 2028 season.
Jacobs, who was named the Panther head coach ahead of the 2008 season, has notched 464 wins in his 16 seasons at the helm of the UNI program, ninth most all-time in Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) history. The Panthers have posted eight seasons of 30+ wins under Jacobs, qualified for the NCAA Regionals twice (2013, 2021), won one MVC Tournament championship in 2013 and claimed four MVC regular season crowns (2012, 2017, 2022, 2023).
Bobbi Petersen
After coaching the Panthers to their 24th NCAA Tournament berth last fall, UNI head volleyball coach Bobbi Petersen has been awarded a five-year contract extension through the end of the 2028 season, as announced by the UNI Athletic Department on Monday.
The winningest volleyball coach in UNI and Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) history, Petersen has totalled 557 victories in her 23 years at the helm of the program. Since taking over the team full-time in 2001, Petersen has coached the Panthers to 16 NCAA Tournament appearances and 11 tournament wins, including consecutive Sweet Sixteen berths in 2001 and 2002. Additionally, UNI has won ten MVC regular season and tournament titles during that span.
Tanya Warren
UNI Athletics and head women's basketball coach Tanya Warren have agreed to a two-year contract extension through the end of the 2028-29 season, as announced by the Panther Athletic Department on Wednesday.
Coach Warren enters her 17th season at the helm of the Panther's women's basketball team in 2023-24. Under her watch, the purple and gold have made 12 national postseason appearances, recorded six seasons of 20+ wins and posted 14 consecutive seasons with a .500 winning percentage or better. Warren, a two-time Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Coach of the Year recipient, has coached the Panthers to a pair of MVC Tournament titles in 2010 and 2011, as well as two regular season conference crowns (2011, 2017).
