UNI names Brian Gabel as new alumni association president
The University of Northern Iowa has announced Brian Gabel as the new assistant vice president for alumni engagement and annual giving and president of the UNI Alumni Association. Gabel is a 2002 alum of the university.
“We are excited to have Brian step into this leadership role within UNI’s Advancement Division,” said Jim Jermier, vice president for University Advancement and president of the UNI Foundation. “His passion for the Panthers, his professional experience and his service to the community will serve him and the university well.”
Prior to this role, Gabel served for more than a decade as the general manager of Panther Sports Properties with Learfield, managing the relationship of business partners looking to engage with the UNI Panther fan base. He also serves as an adjunct instructor in UNI’s Wilson College of Business, teaching consumer behavior and services marketing classes. Prior to his tenure with Panther Sports Properties, Brian worked at Drake University and Minnesota State University, Mankato.
“UNI shaped my personal and professional growth. I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve my alma mater,” said Gabel.
In his new role, Gabel will oversee the alumni engagement and annual giving teams within the Advancement Division. The division encompasses both the UNI Alumni Association and UNI Foundation.
Gabel received his undergraduate degree in marketing from UNI and a master of science in recreation and sports management from Indiana State University.
