UNI Department of Art students present spring 2024 BFA group exhibition
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The University of Northern Iowa Gallery of Art will present the spring 2024 Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) group exhibition from Monday, April 22, through Sunday, May 12. An opening reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, April 22, in the south lobby of the Kamerick Art Building (KAB).
The exhibition will feature works from three UNI Department of Art BFA students: Syd Heuer, Bob and Amelia Blue.
Syd Heuer of Des Moines, Iowa, is presenting an exhibition based around printmaking and ceramics titled “Sympathy for Life.” Through a variety of media – printmaking, ceramics and paper folding – on top of colorful imagery, Heuer delves into their feelings and experiences throughout life.
Bob of Mount Vernon, Ohio, presents an exhibition titled “Undercurrents.” Utilizing his multidisciplinary experience in printmaking, photography, performance and sculpture, Bob investigates the intense, deep and precarious transformation of culture caused by the onset of the new digital age.
Multidisciplinary Filipino-American artist Amelia Blue of Cedar Falls, Iowa, presents an exhibition of sculptural artworks representing the “spring” of collective ancestral, cultural experience and the mystery of the self. “I Can’t See the Bottom” explores magic, the place where her intersectional identities meet and the wells from which her perspective, labor and energy draw.
All events are free and open to the public. The gallery is located on the main floor of Kamerick Art Building, and its hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Additional hours will be added the weekend of UNI Graduation. Saturday, May 11 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and Sunday, May 12 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
