CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa announced three recipients of the 2024 Lux Service Awards at its annual Student Leadership Awards ceremony. The Lux Service Award, one of four awards from the Dean of Students office, is the pinnacle for graduating seniors to acknowledge their exemplary service, which will leave a lasting legacy upon graduation. To qualify for the Lux Service Award, students must hold leadership positions in at least two student organizations. 

• Emily Clouser, a choral music education major from Waukee, is continuing a family legacy as a fourth-generation UNI student. She will leave behind her own legacy as an active student in the School of Music who celebrated the history of UNI’s carillon as a member of the UNI Guild of Carillonneurs. While the Campanile and the bells were undergoing renovations, Clouser worked closely with UNI and gave media interviews to help raise awareness about the project. 
  
  “Any university can give you the textbook knowledge and information, but only UNI could give me the relationships with peers and professors that I need to be successful in my field, and the confidence needed to step into my first day of a career and know that I am far more prepared than what I could ever imagine,” said Clouser.
   
• Noah Hackbart, a political communication major from Ankeny, has been an active member of Northern Iowa Student Government since his very first semester at UNI. For four semesters, Hackbart served as the NISG director of governmental relations, building and strengthening relationships with state and local leaders. He advocated for the needs of students off campus and increased awareness about student government on campus.
  
  “UNI is the kind of institution where we value everyone, and taking those lessons out into the world after college is going to help me be a great working professional in whatever career path I choose,” said Hackbart.
   
• Diamond Roundtree, a communication: digital media production major from Cedar Rapids, has been involved with everything from Jump Start Academy to the Northern Iowan student newspaper. She has also started a multicultural student magazine called “Prolific” to support students of color in expressing their voices. Whether working as a resident assistant or a member of Cat Crew, Roundtree has always tried to live by the motto “leave it better than you found it.” 
  
  “As a graduating senior, I feel I have helped UNI become a better place by helping students of color find their voices,” said Roundtree.
