Virtual Breakfast Series to host Iowa family business Jolly Time to learn about sustaining a company for over a century
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The University of Northern Iowa (UNI) Family Business Center will offer a conversation about “Jolly Time: 100 Years of Family and Fun” on Thursday, May 16, at 8 a.m. Central Standard Time via Zoom. Jolly Time, which operates under the parent company American Popcorn Company, is run by the Smith family out of Sioux City. Garrett K. Smith, current president and a fourth-generation member of the Smith family, will share milestones of the last 100 years, along with challenges and how their family has remained loyal to the business for five generations.
“The UNI Family Business Center serves family businesses that are over a century old like Jolly Time, but we also serve families in the early stages of multi-generational leadership,” said Jayne Kielman, business development manager at the UNI Family Business Center. “We’re excited to learn more from the Smith family about their secrets to success.”
