Cedar Falls and UNI present fireworks over the Dome
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The City of Cedar Falls and the University of Northern Iowa are proud to present Fireworks Over the Dome on Thursday, June 27.
The fireworks show will begin at approximately 9:40 p.m. over the UNI-Dome (2501 Hudson Road, Cedar Falls). Parking and restroom information can be found at bit.ly/FOTD24. Signage will also be located on-site to assist guests. This community event is free to the public.
Bringing a fireworks celebration to Cedar Falls was a major goal for Mayor Danny Laudick and an opportunity to connect with the University of Northern Iowa to create a truly magical moment to kick off the summer.
“In Cedar Falls, we pride ourselves on being a community with a small-town sense of connection,” said Mayor Laudick. “Gathering with friends and family outdoors to enjoy summer fireworks is a wonderful memory for many of us and we are excited to bring that back to our area.”
To make the event possible, the City teamed up with UNI to provide the first Cedar Falls fireworks show at the UNI-Dome in over a decade.
"The University of Northern Iowa is excited to partner with the City of Cedar Falls to help kick off the annual Sturgis Falls celebration with Fireworks Over the Dome on June 27,” said Pete Moris, Director of University Relations at UNI. “We hope the community enjoys this family-friendly celebration and encourage UNI alums to return back to campus for this event. We appreciate Mayor Danny Laudick and all the folks at UNI who are making this show a reality."
Mayor Laudick, a 2013 UNI graduate, noted that the public can look forward to more than a splash of Panther pride during the celebration as well.
“We greatly appreciate our partners at UNI and Cedar Falls City staff for helping to make this event possible,” said Mayor Laudick. “The community can definitely expect to see some purple and gold in the mix when we start the show!”
Fireworks Over the Dome is sponsored by the University of Northern Iowa, Veridian Credit Union, Mudd Advertising
and Dan Deery Motor Company.
