TheatreUNI presents “Ordinary Days”

Cast of Ordinary Days jumping in the air

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - For its first production of the 2024-25 season, TheatreUNI will present Adam Gwon’s musical, “Ordinary Days.” Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 4,5, 11 and 12, and at 2 p.m. on Oct. 6 and 13.

All performances will take place in the Bertha Martin Theatre, located inside the Strayer-Wood Theatre building on the University of Northern Iowa campus.

Set in New York City in the early 21st century, Adam Gwon’s charming four-person musical follows an aspiring artist, an ambitious grad student and a young couple in love who are all trying to find the answers to life’s questions: what is my “big picture?” Why can’t I let things go? Where am I going and how will I get there? Why can’t life be more like art? Our production will embrace the little things, reminding us that we are all pieces of a much bigger story than we might have first imagined.

UNI Department of Theatre Assistant Professor Katy Hahn will direct, with music direction by UNI School of Music alum Seth Butler. Eric Lange, Department of Theatre professor emeritus, is the lighting designer, with projections design by UNI alum Scott Olinger, scenic design by recent graduate Aidan Smith, and costume design by current student Megan Hedtke. Current student Hannah Tibbs is the assistant director and the production’s stage manager is current student Eric Chen.

Tickets start at $26 and are available at unitix.uni.edu. Tickets can also be purchased at the box office inside the Strayer-Wood Theatre. Admission is free for UNI students.
