Next time you are traveling around Cedar Falls, keep your eyes peeled for a miniature version of the Campanile, now featured in the roundabout of Main Street and Seerley Boulevard. The new installment is part of the City of Cedar Falls’ ongoing reconstruction of Main Street, now well into its second year.

Standing 25 feet tall with a real working clock, this miniature version of UNI’s favorite tower is designed to closely replicate the original… however you won’t find a carillon at the top!

According to officials, the city developed the replica to highlight the important relationship between the university and its community, as many residents in the area find their home in Cedar Falls due to their connections to the university. The two entities, greatly intertwined, help provide economic and tourism opportunities for the area.

“While UNI is a core part of the city’s identity, we want everyone who enters Cedar Falls to know that you are in Panther Country!” says Amanda Huisman, communications specialist at the City of Cedar Falls.
