Viral comedy clip recalls 1988 UNI Wrestling match
You might’ve seen it on TikTok, Instagram, or Facebook — a stand-up comedy bit from Greg Warren, reminiscing about his days as a collegiate wrestler. One match against the UNI Panthers really stuck with him. Take a look:
The clip has racked up over a million views (and counting) on Facebook alone.
As it turns out, that match took place in the West Gym on January 2, 1988. The Panther who beat him was Pat Hogan, who won the 150-pound bout by technical fall. UNI went on to win the dual over Missouri, 37–7.

And get this: the two still cross paths now and then!

The UNI connections don’t stop there. Pat Hogan is the father of Avery Hogan, a current member of UNI Swimming & Diving, and Taylor Hogan, who swam and played softball for the Panthers.
"It’s been really cool to hear about our dad’s career at UNI and to see how far his story has reached," said Avery. "The only story he ever shared from his wrestling days was about losing in the blood round his senior year in overtime—just shy of becoming an All-American. He used that moment as a motivational lesson for us girls whenever we competed. Other than that, most of the stories we’ve heard have come from others—like Greg Warren!"
