TheatreUNI presents “Marian, or the True Tale of Robin Hood”

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - For its first production of the 2025-26 season, TheatreUNI will present “Marian, or the True Tale of Robin Hood” by Adam Szymkowicz.
Public performances will be held Oct. 24, 25, 31, and Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 26 and Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. All performances will take place in Strayer-Wood Theatre on the University of Northern Iowa campus.
Modern concerns and romantic entanglements clash on the battlefield and on the ramparts of Nottingham Castle in this play about identity, selflessness, love deferred and the fight for freedom. Alanna Dale steps into the Robin Hood legend full of questions like “How can I be a Merry Man?” and “Who is Robin Hood?” and “Why are Marian and Robin never in the same room?” and “Why do Robin and Marian look so much alike?”
Will Alanna discover Robin’s identity? Will she join the Merry Men and defeat the mad Prince John? Will Marian and Little John find love when the world stands against them? Who will stand and fight?
Associate Professor William Hickman will direct the play, with scenic design by Associate Professor Mark Parrott, costume design by senior student Hannah Pratt, intimacy direction by Assistant Professor Katy Hahn, lighting design by guest artist Thomas White, sound design by student Finn Coons, and stage management by student Paige Winkleman.
