The UNI Child Development Center has earned another five years of accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

NAEYC accreditation signifies the center is meeting national standards of quality to ensure the best learning experiences for  young children and quality professional preparation for student educators. The CDC passed with an overall rating of 96%, with all three classrooms specifically earning scores of 100%.

“This accomplishment reflects our dedication to providing quality care for children at the CDC. The ongoing efforts from the administration and teachers at the CDC have not only demonstrated our proficiency in child care practices, but also shows our dedication to the well-being and development of each child.” says Maria Ackerson, child care center director.

“This recognition speaks to our ability to create safe, nurturing environments where children can thrive and learn. Our attention to detail, commitment to the classroom environment, and knowledge of best educational practices have made this possible.”

The center has 10 lead teachers, 50 student staff and cares for 62 children of UNI faculty, staff and students.

“The score we received reflects the CDC's commitment to providing high quality child care for all children.” Ackerson adds. “This high score demonstrates that the staff at the CDC are well-trained, knowledgeable, and professional in their approach to child care. This is crucial for creating a positive and supportive atmosphere for both children and their families.”
