UNI’s System of Support Conference to address change and community resilience in 2025

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The University of Northern Iowa welcomes social workers, community service providers, health care professionals and educators to the 2025 System of Support Conference on Friday, Nov. 21, 2025, at Hawkeye Community College’s Van G. Miller Adult Learning Center, 120 Jefferson St., Waterloo, Iowa.

This year’s conference brings together UNI and Cedar Valley partners to explore strategies for adapting to change, fostering collaboration and strengthening community resilience.

The day will feature a keynote address from Ben Brustkern, executive director of Friends of the Family, along with breakout sessions on entrepreneurship, professional collaboration, immigrant and refugee workforce support, and navigating career transitions.

An afternoon panel discussion, “Model of Partnership through Foundation and Trust Work in Building Economic Resilience,” will feature representatives from the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa, UNI Foundation, Otto Schoitz Foundation and R.J. McElroy Trust.

The conference is hosted by the University of Northern Iowa’s College of Social & Behavioral Sciences, School of Health & Human Sciences, Educational Opportunity Center, and Center for Urban Education.

Cost is $45 per person ($10 for UNI students). The conference is approved for six social work CEUs.
