The University of Northern Iowa is once again bustling with life as students return to campus, settle into dorms, houses and apartments and start their first full week of classes. For new students — whether they be freshmen or transferring juniors — so many new people, places and experiences can be a bit overwhelming, but those who have been at UNI for a few years have some great advice to offer.
Cedar Falls – As Cedar Falls welcomes students back to the community this fall, the University of Northern Iowa and Cedar Falls Public Safety will be continuing to partner together to provide a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for all, especially in the College Hill area.

Much of librarian Anne Marie Gruber’s job is spent aiding students. Her favorite memories are ones where the library helps students overcome learning barriers. For instance, one graduate student never learned to type and was not meeting due dates. Gruber taught them about “speech to text” programs so the student could get their ideas on the page.
Four jazz ensembles, including students and faculty from the UNI School of Music, will play a series of casual jazz sets in Seerley Park on Aug. 28 at 5 p.m.
In what has become an annual tradition, the University Northern Iowa will once again be hosting a booth at the Iowa State Fair and joining in the 11-day celebration of all the incredible things Iowa has to offer.
