UNI announces program’s first-ever virtual fashion week

The University of Northern Iowa’s Textiles and Apparel Program will hold its first-ever completely virtual fashion week for students’ designs.  Catwalk 29 is a six-day event (running April 26 - May 1) with five shows featuring garments designed and produced by UNI students using  traditional,non-traditional and upcycled materials. Local high school students in the Cedar Valley also assisted in the production. 

UNI to host virtual conversation with NBA championship coach Nick Nurse

The University of Northern Iowa, in partnership with the University of Iowa, will host a virtual conversation Friday with NBA coach Nick Nurse, a UNI Hall of Fame basketball star who led his Toronto Raptors to a 2019 championship.

UNI cancels Tuesday vaccination clinic

Today’s student vaccine clinic at the University of Northern Iowa will not be held after the CDC and FDA recommended a pause this morning on the use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.  Additionally, the Iowa Department of Public Health  has advised all Iowa healthcare providers and pharmacies to pause all J&J clinics until further notice.

UNI launches on-campus vaccination clinic this week

Starting tomorrow, the University of Northern Iowa will begin administering doses of COVID-19 vaccine to students, faculty and staff who registered for one of four vaccination clinics in the West Gym. This week’s clinics will continue through Friday. 

UNI to be Iowa host institution for worldwide climate change project

The University of Northern Iowa will be Iowa’s host institution for a worldwide project for educators and community members on what can be done in the state to address climate change over the next decade. 

UNI helps Iowa small businesses become more energy efficient

The Iowa Waste Reduction Center (IWRC) at the University of Northern Iowa is helping Iowa small businesses save money while becoming more energy efficient.  The IWRC provides free comprehensive, on-site energy assessments that analyze all aspects of a business’ energy use, including compressed air leak detection along with facility lighting analysis and a building envelope inspection.
