Chepina Rumsey publishes “Nurturing Math Curiosity With Learners in Grades K-2”
A book from Chepina Rumsey, associate professor of mathematics education at UNI, and her co-author, Jody Guarino, is now published. The book will serve as a resource for UNI's future elementary education teachers. The audience is K-2 teachers who want to build on students' natural curiosity in math class. The co-authors hope to nurture that curiosity in educators as well. Rumsey and Guarino have been presenting at conferences to share the book and the project with educators. Rumsey will be presenting in Colombia in the fall at an international conference, highlighting the book and the research. Rumsey has been working on this research since her dissertation in 2012, with the K-2 project starting in 2016. The co-authors have been writing articles and working with publishers to get this published since 2018. Learn more by visiting the link tree.
