Get ready to celebrate 150 years of UNI!
The University of Northern Iowa is preparing for its sesquicentennial celebration - commemorating 150 years of transformation and impact. Starting in 2025 and culminating in 2026, we’ll honor UNI’s legacy and dedication to students, while celebrating the past, present and future.
- The State Normal School opened its doors on September 6, 1876, and we’ll begin our sesquicentennial recognition as we welcome UNI’s 150th class this next fall.
- We’ll mark the culmination of Our Tomorrow: The Campaign for UNI, celebrating the contributions of more than 30,000 alumni and friends for a bolder, brighter future.
- We’ll also observe significant campus milestones, including 50 years of the UNI-Dome and the 100th anniversary of the Campanile, while creating new on campus traditions for the next generation of Panthers.
- Signature sesquicentennial events will bring us together on campus, throughout the Cedar Valley, the state of Iowa and beyond. This includes a UNI Day of Service, uniting Panthers in giving back across the nation and around the globe.
Planning is underway and building momentum, with a dedicated sesquicentennial steering committee and working groups shaping a meaningful celebration. Keep an eye out for future newsletters like this one, and be sure to check our sesquicentennial website, 150.uni.edu
We look forward to honoring this milestone with you – in our community, on our campus, with our faculty and staff, alumni and students.
