For Chris Yuska (Accounting, ’01) and Kevin Zaugg (Accounting, ’96), giving to UNI Accounting is a passion. Over the years, they’ve contributed money to various Ernst and Young scholarships in order to help accounting students obtain their degrees and find success in the accounting profession.
There’s no substitute for hands-on learn in the real world. UNI’s College of Business takes that seriously, and the MBA program is no exception. Students are encouraged to finish their master’s degree with a capstone project working with real Iowa businesses, one of just a handful of programs across the U.S. that involves students as consultants for existing businesses as a condition of their graduation.
Cedar Valley businesses and organizations will have a unique opportunity to introduce themselves to University of Northern Iowa students and employees at the inaugural Business and Community Fair.
Due to the strong likelihood of rain Wednesday, the event will now be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20 at Lawther Field on the UNI campus. The fair will be moved to Maucker Union in the event of rain that day.
This new, more flexible option delivers the same high-quality curriculum as the on-campus program and is taught by the same dedicated faculty. Students can begin as early as spring 2022.
The Iowa Waste Reduction Center at the University of Northern Iowa was recently selected to receive an EPA Region 7 2021 Pollution Prevention Award. The award will be formally presented on Oct. 26 during ceremonies at the Midwest Environmental Compliance Conference.

Since March 2020, the industry has dealt with a shortage of supplies, staffing issues, budgeting problems and more—making the need for well-trained business leadership all the more important.
The University of Northern Iowa holds a special place in the hearts’ of Rod and Heidi Foster. Rod started his long career in accounting because of his education at the College of Business. UNI is also where he met his wife, Heidi, a graduate of the chemistry program. They now have two grown sons—one of which is also a UNI graduate. Because of their UNI experience, Rod and Heidi both feel the need to give back to the university and repay it for giving them the tools and experiences to be successful in business and life.
