Next IAF Application Deadline is Thursday, March 6

Completed IAF applications are due by 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 6 (this deadline is for research applications or any trips occurring between (Apr 1 - Apr. 30). The Intercollegiate Academics Fund (IAF) is a yearly allocation of Student Activity Fee monies that exists to promote and support intercollegiate academic experiences for University of Northern Iowa students. Specifically, the IAF supports students in two ways: 1) through a travel fund for students who participate in intercollegiate academic competitions and presentations at professional conferences; and 2) through a research and creative activity fund which supports student research and creative activities. Waterloo Matters Conference 2025

Educational Opportunity Programs (EOP) is excited to announce the upcoming Waterloo Matters Conference 2025, designed to bring together educational leaders, innovators, and forward-thinking professionals and will focus on the importance of the Waterloo community and its relationship with the University of Northern Iowa. The keynote speaker will be Mayor Quentin Hart of Waterloo, IA. The event will take place Thursday, April 3 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. at the Waterloo Center of the Arts. My Well-being: Confidential Biometric Screening

Human Resource Services will host a confidential biometric screening on Friday, March 28 from 7 to 9 a.m. in Gilchrist 007. All benefit eligible employees may participate in one free biometric screening per academic year. For more information, and to register, visit the confidential biometric screening webpage.

Retirement Readiness: Bridging the Gap

Human Resource Services will host an informational session on bridging the gap from your employer health plan to Medicare. Learn how to use the Marketplace or healthcare.gov to price Affordable Care Act (ACA) compliant plans, and options such as COBRA, short term health plans, sharing programs, and group plans. The hour-long session will be presented by Todd Cooper with Veridian, on Thursday, March 27, at 11 a.m. in Gilchrist 009. Please register in advance.

TIAA: Investing Essentials

Join Mark Hagen from TIAA for a UNI exclusive session on investing. How you invest today can impact what you’ll have tomorrow. No matter where you are in your career journey, this session can help you understand five key principles of investing for the future so you can get the most from your money. This session will take place on Wednesday, March 26, at noon, in Gilchrist 009. Please register in advance.

Merchant Scholarship


Merchant Scholarships are an annual scholarship opportunity for graduating seniors and UNI alumni pursuing graduate studies. Scholarships typically range between $2000-$4000 and will be awarded for graduate study for the fall of 2025. Recipients must be attending, or planning to attend, an accredited graduate or professional school as a full-time student. Applicants can be in any year of graduate study. The deadline for applications is Friday, March 31, 2025.
