The historic Nielsen Field House was rededicated last month in a ceremony that featured Sen. Chuck Grassley, a performance by the Panther Marching Band and a celebration of the value of the two programs that call the field house home - UNI’s Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) and Child Development Center.
Running past bullets and crossing oceans to escape genocide in her home country, Ariane Hakizimana grew up in survival mode. But at UNI, she found a supportive community that helped give her the skills to thrive — and keep fighting for her goal of helping others.
