A new accounting scholarship will provide more financial accessibility and opportunities for students enrolled in the new UNI accounting hybrid program at Des Moines Area Community College. The generous $94,000 gift from Greater Des Moines residents Mark (Accounting ‘79) and Jill (Management ‘85) Oman will be awarded to eligible students, starting with the first cohort in August.
Three University of Northern Iowa Students competed as finalists at EO Iowa’s Global Student Entrepreneurship Awards (GSEA) competition in West Des Moines — a pitch contest for college students who own and operate a business. One of them claimed third place.
A program at the UNI John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center (JPEC) provides students with mentorship and collaboration opportunities while growing their businesses — all during academic breaks. It’s called the Early Founders Program, and students can apply for two different cohorts designed to teach the concepts and skills necessary for business ownership.
