Iowa Waste Reduction Center to host Fighting Food Waste event

Join us for an evening of education, entertainment and advocacy from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19, when the he University of Northern Iowa’s Iowa Waste Reduction Center (IWRC) presents Fighting Food Waste the Iowa Culinary Institute at DMACC, located at 2006 S Ankeny Blvd, in Ankeny.

The evening will open with a panel discussion featuring esteemed experts from varying backgrounds discussing how Iowans can tackle the issue of food waste.

After the panel, two student teams from DMACC Iowa Culinary Institute will compete to prepare the best meals using kitchen scraps as ingredients. A panel of judges will choose the best tasting and most innovative dishes.

There will be live music by Trevor Rau and a craft beer cash bar.

All proceeds go to the Diane Albertson Memorial Scholarship and the DMACC Iowa Culinary Arts Institute Scholarship.
