After teaching at the high school level for 13 years and receiving numerous teaching awards, Rachel Hansen has found herself back on the other side of the classroom. Not only is she a geography master’s student at the University of Northern Iowa, but she is about to be the geography department’s first recipient of an innovative graduate assistantship.
The UNI School of Music is celebrating an important milestone, the 25th Anniversary of our Masters of Music in Music Education Distance Education program. We recently checked in with the very first graduate of the program, Ernest Reineke, who is currently in his 33rd year of teaching, and learned how the program was created and has impacted his incredible teaching career. We would love to share some perspective on not only how the program was developed, but also how the program has adapted and changed over the years.

The University of Northern Iowa is pleased to announce a new fully online option for the Master of Arts (MA) degree in postsecondary education: student affairs. Scheduled to begin August 23, this new option delivers the same high-quality curriculum as the on-campus program and is taught by the same dedicated faculty, with the added flexibility of an online format.

University of Northern Iowa doctoral student Glynis Worthington decided to enter a beauty pageant.
It was just the latest in a lifetime of unconventional but successful choices for Worthington, a 59-year-old Cedar Falls resident with a strong aversion to boredom. She beat out competitors decades younger to win the Mrs. Iowa crown last month.
