The Iowa Waste Reduction Center (IWRC) at the University of Northern Iowa was recently awarded a grant for their Community Waste Diversion Project that will provide technical assistance, training and educational information by hosting an on-site, hands-on workshop.
A new partnership between the University of Northern Iowa and a host of Illinois community colleges will make it easier for transfer students to enroll at UNI.
The university has signed an articulation agreement with the Illinois Community College System, a group of 48 community colleges that serve nearly 700,000 students a year. Under the agreement, students transferring from Illinois with an associate of arts degree will have satisfied UNI’s general education requirements. Those students are also eligible for a $5,000 out-of-state award.

The University of Northern Iowa’s project to renovate and modernize the Industrial Technology Center received a $750,000 commitment from John Deere Waterloo, one of the largest recruiters of UNI Department of Technology graduates. The UNI Alumni Studio at the Red House Studios – a partnership between the Hearst Center for the Arts and the UNI Department of Art – was awarded in July to a recent graduate of UNI’s studio art program.

The Pauline R. Barrett Charitable Foundation has invested $2 million in the renovation and expansion of the Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center.

A former vice president at the University of Alabama, Grady is currently a senior fellow at the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators in Washington, D.C. His career includes nearly six years as associate vice president and dean of students at the University of Iowa.
